“In 1998, my husband Bob DesRoches and I began planning for our dream house; this was not going to be a “starter home”, it was to be our forever home. As the result of an accident in 1988 I use a wheelchair, so a number of additional accessibility considerations needed to be made. We met Carmine Gargarella with Bridlewood Homes, and were impressed with his enthusiasm and ability to "think outside the box". We felt immediate confidence in his attention to detail, immensely necessary when creating a barrier-free home. In addition, Bridlewood helped us create an aesthetically beautiful home in which the barrier-free features blend subtly with the unique design and do not look “institutional”. In fact, a physiotherapist friend said that our home is not accessible; it is ergonomic for anyone, truly a universal design.”
